International Teams Management

International Teams Management

When the companies grow from local to global business, they face new problems that – if under evaluated and not faced properly – might bring to big inefficiencies in all their processes.

To approach with the same style customers in domestic country and export counties – for instance – might results in risky misunderstandings and losses of opportunities, besides a poor image of the company. Similarly, when a company starts to have sites in multiple countries have the issue to “integrate” the teams from different cultures in such a way they can understand each other (it is not a matter of languages knowledge) and can work effectively together: the natural difference must become a value for the company and not an obstacle to further growth.

Elite team has developed structured training projects to support the companies that live such type of difficulties. Each project is designed on the specific needs of the client; it may take from 2 to 5 months and have generally some few common steps.

Step 1. To Understand and to Define the problems.

In this first step, both individual and group talks with top and middle management will be held by Elite team in order to draw exactly the expectations of each one and the problems perception of each team members. Furthermore, silent attendance to daily meetings (both with local colleagues and international ones, as well as with foreign customers) will be guaranteed to observe each team member interaction style.

The target of the first step is to reach a common definition of the problems and of the opportunities of improvement for the organization, aligning the members expectations. Such opportunities of improvement will generate a first draft of improvement actions.

Step 2. To Refresh the Communication Fundamentals and to Agree on Basic Common Rules.

In the second phase, the Elite team will choose some few of communication and discipline principles that previous step 1 has shown to be deficient, in order to reinforce them by knowledge and by practice. Furthermore, the draft improvement plan of step 1 will be reviewed and fine-tuned with the whole client team. Even during this step, Elite consultants will attend daily meetings, having in this case the power to provide positive and constructive feedbacks to the team members during the client daily team work.

The target of this second step is the client team to agree on basic communication and discipline rules and to define simple and easy-to-track KPI (key Performance Indicators) to be used by the team itself to measure the individual and group performances in the following weeks.

Step 3. To Follow-up the effectiveness of improvements and to define the further opportunities for future.

In this step, actions plan implementation and defined KPI results will be reviewed. Furthermore, individual and group talks will be done to collect the feedback of each management member and to understand any gap which the team need still to work on. Additional training/practicing sessions will be hold based on the needs.

The target of this last step is to take a picture of new situation, of progresses and still existing gaps, motivating the client team to continue to work on the same.
